I made out okay this year. I did get a Bogen TRIPOD KIT. It's the 501. Yeah I know, the 503 is better but it's also 200 dollars more! This will allow me to get started on some actuall stable shootig and will work fine as a secondary tripod in the future when I move up.

Something I noticed is that in the new AC is that there are 2 full page adds touting accessories and these adds are specifically geared towards the DVX100! I thought that was cool.

Anyway, I hope everyone did well and enjoyed the holiday with their families and friends.

Hey the 501 is what most people use.. it will do you fine, at least its not a cheapo Circuit city tripod, but honestly any tripod is better than no tripod.

ASC rocks.. DV is another good one.

DV simply refuses to acknowledge my request for a subscription. I go through the whole thing online, I get a screen that says I'll be hearing from them soon, and then . . . a big nothing. I've tried a couple of times now, and they haven't answered my direct e-mails, either.

Oh, two cents on the 501, which I also use -- it's not quite the jelly-smooth pan I had envisioned upon purchase . . .

That cause the 501 isnt a true fluid head.. Bogen starts making true fluids starting at the 503... and yes, sachtler's are nice.. as long as you get one big enough.
