EDIT: I mean videomic ... sorry

Hello .. I bought the Rode videomic and I want to use it as a boom .. but I want to connect it to HVX200 by XLR and not by mini-Jack

I visited a technical shop and the owner told me that the only way is an adaptop
from miniJack to jack .... and after another adaptor jack to XLR .. and then with a XLR cable to the camera

Is that the best way or there are connectrs minijack to XLR ??

Thanks !!!

There isn't a good way. Also I don't think your going to get very good results even if you kludge enough adapters together to make it work. Your going from unbalanced consumer to a balanced professional input.

Yeah, converting to XLR will not give you a balanced signal. XLR cable usually has better shielding but the primary reason to use XLR is to send a balanced signal over significant distances. Videomic won't do this. It simply wasn't designed to be used off camera.

Cheers

No it won't help - not on it's own.

That accessory is only good for plugging into a camera with XLR inputs - it's no good for running the mic. remotely.

The mic. ic unbalanced and adding an extension cable would act like an aerial and you would get RF interference.

Best way is to use the Røde adaptor together with an in-line transformer to balance the signal down the XLR cable like the XMB from Canford Audio. This has an internal transformer so the output on the male XLR is fully balanced and floating.

Thanks for the great information ... I checked ti XMB site and I saw they have adapters from mini Jack to XLR male to avoid Rode's adaptor like this

49-364 MJPXMH High XLR male 3.5mm jack plug

What do you think ?

No - sorry - it's the wrong way round.

You need a jack socket to XLR plug - this is an XLR socket to a jack plug.

The Røde adaptor with the mic. level balancing converter I described earlier is the best way, I'm afraid.
