XLR adapter question for non-dvx cam

If you need no phantom power for the mic a simple XLR to 3.5mm cable does the job.

There are some plus sides to Beachtek, though. You can ride the levels a bit, yanking the mic cable does not pull it off the camera etc, maybe less cable noise.

I have used both solutions, both work.

Just make sure you bring plenty of 9 V battery for the DXA-6. I always forget to turn off the switch when I'm done so the battery becomes drained very quickly. I also hated the fact that it's so bulky and unbalance the camera weight. For $250 it seems to be very cheaply built with plastic casing.

The Beachtek's also give you the option of recieving line level input which can damage cameras if plugged direct.
