XDCAM EX Conversion run AMOK! Please help!

Hello all, I've just spent hours googling and trying to figure out a work around to getting XDCAM EX footage converted to ProRes 422 and am having audio sync issues.

Okay so here's what I'm doing.
1. converting them to .movs using XDCAM Transfer software. This turns the files into MPEG-2 .movs.
2. Convert these in MPEG Streamclip to prores 422.

Okay, so here's the rub. When I import the files into fcp7, they lose sync after a while - It's very frustrating.

I've tried a bunch of things that haven't worked. Any suggestions? btw, the Sony transfer plug in does not have a version that works with fcp7 running on a mac with anything above OS 10.8. Tried that, been there.

Please help. I am on a deadline.

Thanks!

Here are some options:

1. You can purchase 10.8 from Apple (though you have to contact them directly) but this won't work if the Mac you are on shipped with 10.9 already installed.

2. You can download the trial version of Premiere Pro CC and use that to convert the XDCAM EX files into ProRes (PPro will ready the XDCAM EX files natively).

3. You can buy a plugin from Calibrated Software (http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/) that will allow you to read XDCAM EX files natively. I wouldn't work with the files natively, but you'll be able to use FCP or QT to convert them into ProRes.

Good luck.
