xbox 360 water balloons ad

When Rich says it's cool it's cool.

Hey this could go in the pet peeves thread, but instead I'll compliment the OPPOSITE of my PP... I like commercials that are clever, entertaining, and support the message.

I think what they're trying to say is get ready for a seriously fun and out of control mele' where you can "attack or be attacked" [safely] by anyone. Or perhaps the message is "the **** is about to hit the fan... and it is good."

Get ready kids.

such a good commercial. There's just something about watching a kid get beened in the face by a waterballoon.

The following is NOT recommended, but a hell of a lot of fun none-the-less...

Reminds me of a time that I was at a trade show in Las Vegas. We were staying in a tower room of a hotel that no longer exists (we were about 12 floors up). We decided to see how large of water balloon we could make. We ended up using a box of 40 gallon trash bags (one inside of another, for about 10 layers) and then proceeded to fill up our multiple wall reinforced "balloon" in the shower. We used a large metal trash can to hold our creation while being filled and then tied off each trash bag, one within the other. We then hoisted our "balloon" to the balcony for its launch. Using the trash can as a carrier, we were able to get it to the edge and let it go as a single, intact balloon. It was fairly heavy (had about 30 gallons of water in it) and when it hit the ground some 12 stories below, it was the most awesome water balloon of all time.

The next morning, we investigated the impact site. There were notable radial crack lines in the concrete sidewalk emanating in all directions and evidence that the splash reached up to at least the 3rd or 4th floor on the side of the building. Good thing we had a few spotters to be certain that no one was the recipient of our projectile!

It all started out with some drinking and a discussion of the basic energy equation and the contribution of the velocity squared aspect of the formula. Luckily, no photographic evidence of our experiment exists.

Ha khmuse. That sounds like the beginning of a CSI episode. :)

It's funny that Sony and now the XBox are making ads that have nothing to do with their product but are cute and have kids in it. Wonder if that's a new trend.

Had we not used spotters and someone would have gotten underneath it, you could be right! As I said, NOT recommended...

I thought this was a fun ad in all respects. I don't know if it is effective in marketing to its target audience though. God forbid kids should see how good of a time could be had by just, well being kids. Playing outside all carefree-like can be infinitely more enjoyable than getting lost in an XBOX-induced trance... but letting that little secret out could be bad for business.

That's true Callaghan...hadn't thought about the fact that Xbox was really sending mixed messages with this one.

Their slogan should be expanded to read:
"Jump in...to your couch"

The commercial looked like the were filming some annual town wide water balloon fight in spain or something. Kind of like the big tomato festival over there. I can see a town full of kids doing this all day. I like the second one as well. It looked like some people would have gotten hurt from some of that stuff.

Rich, thanks for that "Mountain" link, i'd never seen that one before.
You're right, "Frickin Rad" is exactly what that is!

And I'm damn glad to see I'm not the only one who still says "rad"
:)
