X-Men 3

i thought they were gonna show Gambit in this film, i mean. because his name appears on the computer database when Mystique breaks in to get some files in X2. ITS RIGHT THERE!!!
Remy Lebeau... if you dont believe me go back and watch X2 and look at the names.

DID ANYONE SEE MAGNETO USE THE TELEKINESIS AT THE END?
he's at the chess table, and he's gonna grab the chess piece but its starts
shaking, as if he has telekinesis powers.
MAYBE the cure "cured" him. but ended up mutating him back to getting a different power this time

the chess pieces were metal... he was getting his old powers back

and Gambit was never supposed to be in the film... his name did appear in X2 but it was just a nod to fans... hopefully they'll bring him in for a possible X4 or the Young X-Men movie they may do...

And for all who have seen the movie, what was up with it being night all of a sudden? (You know what I mean)

.

YES ! I noticed that too. i was like umm wow I didn't know the sun set that fast

Honestly, the problems with this movie reside I think almost squarely with the screenwriters and director.

The screenwriters (xXx 2, and Elektra) put far too many horrible bits of soap opera dialogue "You love her don't you?... Stay here with me" and then the director didn't have the ability to either make them believable, or the strength to cut them out in the editing.

The story in and of itself was fine. Building an X3 sequel around a "cure mutants process" is a fine, even good choice, but everything supporting and surrounding it was disastrous.

Complaints about the mishandling of the Dark Phoenix saga are easily dismissed as the mindless ranting of the mindless fanboys who seem to think there is written somewhere (stored on a cryptex, in a safe deposit box) a contract wherein the creators of this film pledge complete allegiance to the comic books. Until someone produces said cryptex, I'm going to continue with my (mis?)belief that movies are a separate artistic format, and as such, compromises and changes will be made with both story style, and content.

Complaints about the death of Professor X can all be dismissed with just one or two people sitting through the credits, and discovering how even that bold stroke was completely undone by a 30second addendum, which we all knew was coming, but had probably thought was going to show up in X4, not at the butt end of X3.

Yes. Too many characters. Too little time. Cut the rogue subplot. Cut the angel subplot. They could've merged the characters of Angel and Leech, and been better off. (A mutant that is the son of the "Cure Mutant" campaign leader, who also has the ability to cure mutantism).

I don't 'have a problem with killing prof. X "if" it drives the story of this movie but for now there really was no reason

The killing of Professor X. was one of my favorite parts of the film. Because it was really intense. I liked the movie for the most part. But of course I never got into reading the comics on a regular basis. I would flip through them every once in a while just to see how crazy they were getting.

It was a very good scene as far as drama and visuals are concerned but if prof. x didn't die at the end what would have changed ? They still would have fought on alcatraz and logan still would have killed jean

Exactly.
There was absolutely no reason for him to die. The only thing that his death did to further the storyline was to give Storm some sort of leader position...and then Wolverine took over anyway.

I thought it was pretty clear that showing his death established the power she held now as the pheonix. Stuff just blowing up and hearsey did not accomplish this, his death did, for me anyway. I mean, she killed the main man, that had me convinced.

Some things are fanboy nitpicking--but a lot of things are common sense--it's like going to a Sherlock Holmes movie and discovering they turned him into a Frenchman--or had him wearing a top hat. Why do a comics character at all if you intend to change him into something else? If you want an apple, dont pick an orange.

Because a Sherlock Holmes story is seen as more respectable-- fundamental changes would be attacked--but because something is based on a comic book(which is very close to a film in that it is much like a storyboard blueprint) somehow it makes sense to mess around with it as much as possible.

Burton and Raimi both made changes based on the notion that it wouldnt be realistic--though we are talking about fantasy--and yet they did things that even the comics wouldnt do(the Joker falling off a skyscraper and leaving a crater/Parker and Mary Jane living 6 feet from each other for 15 years and never speaking).

The worst fanboy attitude isnt griping about character faithfulness, I'd say its the desire to avoid a "camp" approach to the point where they insist the subjects be treated like the most depressing Shakespeare play(the Hulk, Spider-man, Batman Begins).

I never read Xmen comics --watched the cartoon though. I can see how fans would complain about some things(Cyclops was a wasted character in every movie--bad casting). But I thought the first two movies were among the best recent entertaining comics films(with Blade 1).

If anyone should have been snobby about making a comics movie it was Mario Puzo, but he wrote a pretty faithful adaptation of Superman--one of the most silly looking characters you can find.

Exactly what I felt when I saw her do that.

Spoiler alert--sorta
Wait a sec! Professor X isnt dead. Hes still alive sorta. After the credits rolled, there was one last scene where we see someone lying in a hospice bed, A doctor comes over to check the patient's chart, and you hear a voice say,"Joyce". She looks at him and says in a startled fashion, "Charles!".

its Moira Mactaggart. she's the doctor from the classroom scene where the professor is talking about morality and such to Kitty...

i think its a setup for a possible POSSIBLE X4

Sorry, I dont know where I got joyce from. Yea, it's definitley a setup for another film. (hopefully, Singer will direct it.)

It wasn't pretty clear to me. I mean yes phoenix did destroy Prof. X but it's clear that she didn't destroy his mind just his body. Prof. X was a old man in a wheelchair who's power is all mental and Zero percent physical. It's not hard to break Prof. X's body. If they really wanted to show how stong she was she should have left him with a brainless body then I would believe that she overpowered him but all she did was burn his body leaving his mind intact which is pretty clear after the end credits
