X-Men 3

So, Rich, are you... *cough* working on anyone's sci-fest entry? Cuz I *cough* have this great *cough* script that could use some awesome vfx :cheesy:

John, I like The Family Man and both Rush Hours for what they are, so it's not really a problem with Rattner. It's just that I really wanted to see where Singer was going; wanted to see if his third attempt could be as much better than second as X2 was compared to the original.

Damn, the song in the first part of the teaser was epic. Can't wait till that soundtrack comes out.

I liked The Family Man too. I liked the first Rush Hour but I didn't really like the second. Other than that I don't like all of Ratner's stuff....

A couple of things:
I am glad Colossus is in this one, he is one of my favorite characters, and I watch his cameo in the second over and over again when I watch the Xmen 2.

No Nightcrawler in this one? He was great in the second.

And those who are all knowing fans of the Xmen series - who is X kid and what does he do?

Juggernaut looks like garbage, and that's the only character Ratner didn't inherit.
Juggernaut looks like utter crap. But the second part of that statement isn't true, he didn't inherit Beast, Angel, Shadowcat, Emma Frost, Multiple Man... the list goes on.

TECHNICALLY he inherited Phoenix, but that was left in the air at the end of X2. And from what I can tell, it looks like they're taking it in the right direction (anyone else think Famke looks smokin' as Phoenix?)

...but again, I totally agree. Juggernaut looks AWFUL. Why on Earth they got a tall lanky guy to put on a muscle costume is beyond me. Why not just get someone who is just totally ripped, and supplement the already existing muscle?

Also, I think they're choice for Emma Frost is AWESOME!!!!

X-kid is just a generic term used for background children at Xavier's school.

hahaha...yeah...its like people know him, and are basing it on his personality or lifestyle or something...
I guess of course i dont know him personally, but from reading past interviews with him and just hearing things he says about himself...i know that i dont like him. He just says stupid things...like when he was making family man he said something to the likes of "yeah...i'm making something great and lasting...kind of like 'its a wonderful life'..." I just thought that was rediculous that he could say something like that. He also thinks he's special because Spielberg sent him a grant when he was in college.

And in my opinion Red Dragon sucked compared to what it could have been. The other hannibal lecter films were waaaay better, and yet Ratner was working with AMAZING actors in Ralph Fiennes and Ed Norton.

that was just my reasoning behind not liking him.

That's weird, I liked Red Dragon alot... and I felt that Hannibal was lacking quite a bit.

uhh....yeah the ending of Hannibal wasnt all that good. I dunno..i just didnt like Red Dragon.

Red Dragon was okay, but compare it with Silence of the Lambs (both were from scripts by the same writer) and you can see Ratner's shortcomings. He's a competent craftsman, but the acting was weak, the frame was less imaginatively composed, and it never really built up tension. Red Dragon was a good film that should have been great, but the director just couldn't put it together as Demme did for Lambs.

Hannibal, by contast, was a piece of junk at heart but with a great screenwriter and director, and I've got to admit, I kind of dug it. Sure, the story was stupid, everything was absurdly overdone, but the over-stylized dialogue and unnecessary visual gloss gave it a kind of over-the-top indulgence which matched the over-the-top gore and perversity. I even liked the ending for the most part.

For me, it was cool to see that trailer, because one of the scenes they had in there they had JUST filmed about three weeks ago. My wife & I got to be guests on set of X3, and got to see the scene where they were on the bridge (near the end). I saw Juggernaut's suit up close in person (got to meet Vinnie Jones), and even from 15-20 feet away it was looking pretty impressive. Though he won't look exactly like the comic books (just not feasible), I think it'll look great in the film & work well.

Not to mention that they've got a 6 time Oscar nominee, for visual effects, as their Visual FX Supervisor ... not on the previous two X-Men. I know all the great eye candy in the world can't cover up a bad story, but it's got a solid franchise behind it, and this is their largest budget yet, so I find it hard to believe they're not doing the best possible with the script.

I don't care what people say, I'm going to see this flick! I'm also taking a hot ass date too! Bret is awight, I liked Rush Hour 1,2! Hell, he has an established name and he's making big bucks! I don't think he gives a **** what people thinks!
