X-country road trip

Moving to the Napa area of California from DC in two weeks. It'll be me, my dog and my pony (mustang). The (oops, MY) wife and kids will be joining me after the 4th of July.

First, anyone on Rt70 or 80 with a free room??

No -- any thoughts for ideas on how to put this together? I've got only 6 days to get across so there won't be much time for getting too far off the path. Short of picking up hitch-hikers... any thoughts for threads?

Hmmm

Road trip huh? Napa? From DC? Youre moving up in the world! And you have until JULY 4th before the wife and kids show up?! How did you pull this scam off?

6 days is plenty.  I drove a UHAUL from Augusta, GA to San Diego in 4 days.  13 hour days of course.

Threads? You mean clothes Captain?  :P Shorts, sandles, sweatshirts for night, jeans, tennis shoes and a leopard thong for the hitchhiker.

Re: X-country road trip

No, not threads like clothes... I mean, I'm thinking something like one of those "solo around the cape of good hope in a canvas covered sailing canoe" type films. Any ideas for setting up a tripod on the floor of the front seat passenger side?

OOoohhh--- I can set my watch for one minute intervals -- set the camera to timelaps every minute for half a second and close my eyes every beep... then, well -- you know what the result will be.

You know John... you've had thongs on your mind a bit too much around here.

:D Thongs are cool. Sigh............

Oh sorry. Back to business. LOL Threads! I was thinking "Damn Hippy!" LOL

I think a Road trip film would be great! But you gotta go docu style and not be afraid to harass the locals! Stopping at all those weird places and shooting! Do you have a wireless?

Re: X-country road trip

No wireless -- hmmm maybe I can grab one from my audio shop and mail it back when I get there. Shopping with the townies!! My dog's an australian cattle dog and would LOVE to make some new friends (HEEEHEEE). OOOOOohhhh WAIT Mel in Road Warrior had my dog. All I need is a shot of him pulling dead road kill of a hot dusty road...

Ok, this is getting better. City boy is tourmented by voice over of crazy dog. Starts off driving in a suit and ends up in ripped leather... no, that's NOT why I'm going to San Francisco.
