I felt my post was too negative, and not very beneficial to any important discussion.

Hard line to walk. Branding is more important than ever these days. If a cool style actually gets someone more work, more power to them. But I agree that anyone who is "stylish" is easier to disrespect when he's leading a crew of mostly men doing what is essentially glamorous blue collar work.
