WTB Glidecam or Shoulder Stabilizer

I'm working with the HVX and currently own a good tripod and the glidecam 4000. I'll be shooting some event videography such as weddings, etc. and need something for on the go for longer periods of time. I love the look of Steadicam shots so I was thinking of getting the smooth shooter for my Glidecam, however I'm thinking a handheld rig - like Zacuto's might be more versatile. I also work on commercials, music videos, corporate, etc. so I'd like something that will be most useful across the board.

Any suggestions?

I have no suggestions on this but I was interested in a response too. I just wanted to through this back on page one to see if someone wanted to put in their input.

I didn't get a response but, from the people I talked to and the research I've done, it seems as though using a glidecam is more hassle then it's worth at a wedding. You can get great shots, but in that situation you need to make sure you're not missing anything.

I decided to purchase the handheld Zacuto rig. I ordered it on a Tuesday and it arrived the next day with the standard shipping. Those guys are on the ball.

I tested it out, and I also got the Varizoom control for focus and zoom on the handheld which will work great for the wedding.

I think I made the right decision, but oh how I love the glidecam "look"

I would agree that you made the right decision. I own/operate a Flyer but would never make the mistake of using it for a wedding shoot . . . you want all eyes to be on the bride (not the goofy guy in the camera rig) when shooting *that* kind of a one time only (no retakes) event, no?

Thanks for the replies. I've got two weddings to shoot next month. I've been practicing with the Zacuto rig and really like it. I got the 11lb counter weight and the footage is looking good. I also just purchased the VidLED and eager to get some practice with that.

Any experience with using lights at weddings? I want to be the least intrusive but want the best footage I can get. Most people seem to not want a light shining in their face. I hope to get an extra hand (assistant) in the future to stand off to the side with the vidLED so it doesn't scare people off and to also provide a more dramatic light.
