I am a big WSOP fan since last year. This weekend, ESPN has been playing some reruns of prior years. I am watching 2002 (just three years ago) and am shocked at how cheesy this show was back then, with open announcers with cheap mics & headsets, graphics that look like they were done in a child's illustrator, horrible audio coverage, and weak camerawork. Amazing what 3 years and a bunch of sponsorship money can do for a production. But it does make me a bit more proud of some of the low-budget work I do. Its hard to avoid comparing to my favorite TV shows and ads, but of course it is not a fair comparison. This WSOP event fomr 2002 is a real eye-opener that not everyhting starts out slick.
