Writing in Action and Screen Direction

I has been working on a script and have been getting a hang of the dialog but I am a little frustrated on how much action and screen direction to write in. I plan on directing the piece myself so I have a lot of ideas on how I want to shoot scenes but I want other people to read the script and understand what I want shots to look like. Does anyone have any opinions on how much screen direction, action and camera shots I should write in.

Does anyone have sample scripts or pieces of scripts from movies so I can read along with the movie to kind of see how the script translated onto the screen?

thanks

There are some innocuous ways to slip in this type of stuff, but generally your best bet is not to include camera directions in your script. Since you're directing, it's really a non-issue. A more effective way is to describe your camera angles and shots in the storyboard process.

If you are writing a script that you will direct yourself, you can put in as much action description or as little as you choose. Keep it simple.

Yes, if you're doing it yourself you can print on pink paper with green ink. Just keep in mind others will probably be on the set with copies of the script so keep it semi intelligible.

"Planning" to direct it and actually directing are two different things. If the film has already been funded with you attached to direct, then you are fine.

If you haven't got funding yet and/or a legitimate production company attached, you may want to focus on keeping the script flowing and readable. Wait until a production draft to add all the camera movements etc.
