Writer's Strike Over (?)

The writer's strike is NOT OVER, not yet anyway. The writers are still picketing. There is a meeting to DISCUSS the proposal this coming Saturday night at the Kodak theatre in Hollywood.
The Vanity Fair Oscar party has been cancelled. Also the Oscars needs two weeks for the producers to produce the show, if they do not agree by this coming Sunday the Oscars will probably be cancelled. The next major stepping stone if the WGA settles is the SAG contract. SAG contract is scheduled to end in June. The SAG is going to want the exact same thing from AMPTP, residuals from internet downloads. It appears as though there has been little or no progress in those talks.
Being a member of the DGA/SAG and AFTRA, I am happy that the DGA signed, ready for the WGA to sign and worried about the SAG/AFTRA negotiations. Fortunately for me, I have some work on a couple of features, unfortunately the tv series Reno 911 that I coordinate has been picked up for another season, but we can't go back to work until the strike settles.
What people don't understand is that this strike is hitting more than just the film/television industry. Restaurants, auto dealers, Home Depot, Costco nearly any business located near or dealing with the people IN the film industry is losing money.
Sets aren't being built, permits for filming aren't being filed, caterers aren't working, prop houses and so forth.
