Writer's Strike - Affects People Outside WGA?

Maybe it's insistence upon a moving camera, when a locked shot would be an adequate or better choice, and choosing a locked shot, when a moving camera would be the better choice, that marks out poor student work...

I think student film shot selections are often like this:

"It's 6AM and we're all here! Cool! Let's make the first shot a jib shot! Yay!"

Later...

"It's 3am you jerks! We've been here 21 hours! Let's just get these last three shots so we can go home!"

Good wording Max.

That's more the description I was looking for. :)

It only took three of us to get a definition down. Sweet. Good work guys.

Word on the radio that there's been some kind of breakthrough in verbal negotiations between the writers and producers.

If they can get something on paper, the strike may be coming to a close.

Maybe.

I have had a lot of conversations with tv producers, regarding the general low quality of material on the page in most tv shows, and have consistently been told things along the lines of don't sweat it; the audience can't tell the difference. And I was always struck by the horribly low regard in which tv writers/producers hold their audience.

Now I see the proof that they were right, this whole time.

I guess I should trust them to know their audience.

There really isn't any grade of shite too poor, to keep attracting Ma and Pa Couchpotato to shove their snouts in the trough...

...bad news for writers, this. Now the cat's out of the bag.

Kind of like hoping that pigs tire of massive amounts of slops.

Could happen, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah, I was just hoping that if there's enough derivative crap out there people will crawl back to scripted drama.
