Those views are pretty good and obviously better than many on YT but for comparison...this is the top dog on YouTube right now and probably will never be dethroned.
I don't watch him, but he averages 150-175 million views per some videos within a month/months (unprecedented, and pretty much insane).

'Ratings' is the percentage of TVs watching a show regardless of whether the TV is on or not (110 million households). So a 1% share is about 1.1 million TVs.
The other stat they always tracked was 'share' which is the percent of TVs that are on, what percent is watching the show.
The editing on this is crazy. Both complicated graphics/compositing, but also a very fast and consistent pace of montage. But I got about 1:08 before turning it off. I don't actually care about yachts. And the 2 other videos recommended from this by him are "Ages 1 - 100 fight for $500,000" and "$456,000 squid game in real life", so it basically seems like a lot of focus on money/class
Not too complicated but definitely has a full team at this point.
But a lot of YouTubers (according to what they say) have only a few people working with them. Usually one guy/gal filming, an editor, and they hire freelancers off of random sites when they think they will need a drone or something else.
And his channel grew from stunts, challenges and crazy money giveaways...things thousands and thousands of others do but the stars aligned in his universe and per usual when the snowball starts rolling down the hill it doesn't stop with these people until it crashes and explodes and they are pretty much forgotten about like PewDiePie who averages a couple of millions views for his videos and he's still #6 on the most subs list!
Donaldson grew up in a middle-class household in Greenville, North Carolina.[SUP][15][/SUP][SUP][16][/SUP] He began posting videos to YouTube in early 2012, at the age of 13,[SUP][17][/SUP] under the handle MrBeast6000. His early content ranged from Let's Plays to "videos estimating the wealth of other YouTubers".[SUP][18][/SUP] He went viral in 2017 after his "counting to 100,000" video earned tens of thousands of views in just a few days, and he has become increasingly popular ever since, with most of his videos gaining tens of millions of views.[SUP][18][/SUP] Over time, his style of content diversified to include challenge and donation videos that reward thousands of dollars, videos with arduous tasks or survival challenges, and original vlogs.[SUP][19][/SUP] Once his channel took off, Donaldson hired some of his childhood friends to co-run the brand. As of 2022, the MrBeast team is made up of 30 people, including Donaldson himself.[SUP][20][/SUP] Other than MrBeast, Donaldson runs the YouTube channels Beast Reacts, MrBeast Gaming, MrBeast 2 (formerly MrBeast Shorts),[SUP][21][/SUP] and the philanthropy channel Beast Philanthropy.[SUP][22][/SUP][SUP][23][/SUP] He formerly ran MrBeast 3 (initially MrBeast 2), which is now inactive.[SUP][24][/SUP][SUP][25][/SUP] He was one of the 10 highest-paid YouTubers of 2020,[SUP][26][/SUP] having an estimated net worth of $500 million.[SUP][27][/SUP]
Donaldson is the founder of MrBeast Burger and Feastables, and a co-creator of Team Trees, a fundraiser for the Arbor Day Foundation that has raised over $23 million,[SUP][28][/SUP][SUP][29][/SUP] and Team Seas, a fundraiser for Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup that has raised over $30 million.[SUP][30][/SUP] Donaldson won the Creator of the Year award three times at the Streamy Awards in 2020, 2021, and 2022; he also won the Favorite Male Creator award twice at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in 2022 and 2023. That same year, Time magazine named him as one of the world's 100 most influential people.
I happened to look at TV ratings today and it happens to be the last day that Showbuzz daily is posting them. Not that it is a surprise, but no one is watching broadcast or cable. The ratings are abysmal. The highest rated show on broadcast and cable, excluding Telemundo and Univisino was less than 1%. The top shows are in the 0.3% rating. That is 0.3% of the TVs are watching the show. I'm surprised that cable and TV are even in existence with those numbers.
The point is there is no money in anything being shown on cable or TV, so the writers need to go elsewhere because no one is going to pay for writers because no one is watching.
Link or it didn't happen...lol, j/k.
Seriously though...it can't be that easy; six figures seems A LOT for that.
where tf is all of this money coming from, lol
I think the real way to look at YouTube is that it's not a single actor producer with a small camera crew and a freelance editor making huge shows. It's millions of actor producers with small camera crews making a huge amount of material some of which blows up big time. But you won't to be able to have those big successes without throwing lots and lots of stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. And it only works because everyone who isn't successful at it is working for free.

It’s currently up to 24M views. Originally, it hit 12M in just a week or two, if I recall correctly.
so basically, fewer TVs are on at any given time than they used to be?
Just goes to show that everyone is just a number on a spreadsheet.

That's no different that TV or movies..... well, it was, back when TV had an audience, they went through piles of story ideas, scripts, development deals, and pilots that never went anywhere. The same for movies. I used to track the top 100 movies weekly. Anything below the top 30 or so lost money. So there were piles of movies made every year you never heard of that invested millions and were losers.

looks like a big issue is qualifying for the SAG health insurance plan. this is such an American problem to begin with. Like, how many movies have we seen (Breaking Bad included) where people need to make money fast to pay for their health care. In so many other countries around the world, this is not a consideration
