write on effect on text or mask

I just download the project simple from sony's web site for vegas 6 in one of the projects there was a 'writing effect' for the text of boston I am just wonder how to do it... I think they didn't use text generator in vegas but bmp image file for the word boston and I cannot figure out how to do the writing effect....

1) Start with text media (on transparent bg)
2) Click on the Event Pan/Crop button
3) In the lower-left corner, check Mask
4) Using key-framing, create a mask that reveals the text as if a pen were writing it.

The process is not difficult, but can be tedious. You have to learn how to create an manipulate Bezier masks (especially adding points)
 
There was a movie that had opening credits done as though they were being handwritten in pencil... Anyone remember which one? I can't think of it. It was nice effect...
