WOW....new War of the Worlds Trailer!

Re: WOW....new War of the Worlds Trailer!

There's no way in hell Kubric would have let Spielberg direct.

overland- Good call on Brazil.

Re: WOW....new War of the Worlds Trailer!

I'll be looking at some of the set pictures on Wed of WOW.  I wish I could share them but I am not even supposed to see them.  The trailer was filmed in Baltimore, Maryland.

They threw this together pretty fast.  They were supposed to make another movie before this one, to build up to it, but it got scratched for whatever reason.  Then at the last minute decided to do this one, from what they are telling my Uncle.

The speed at which they are working on this is pretty amazing.  My brother looked at the set pictures that our Uncle designed and said they were really cool.

My wife is buggin him to get Cruise's autograph.....I am like whatever, it's just Tom Cruise.  She said yeah he is really famous in Peru.

Re: WOW....new War of the Worlds Trailer!

I saw some of the graphics that Lucas' people did with the aliens. Look s prety cool.

My uncle is working on the part of the movie with a plane crash, where it crashes in neighborhood. They purchased a Boeing 747 and he is designing the houses (or what is left of them) for the neighborhood, with pieces of the plane they cut up in the houses. It is neat to see how much work goes into something that may be on the screen for 30 Seconds as Cruise walks outside.

Re: WOW....new War of the Worlds Trailer!

no offence but the only spelburg film i have ever liked was Minority Report(Spelt that wrong) :D

Thanks for that heads up Nick

What impressess me is how fast they have done this and it looks so damn cool. Man, I cant wait for this; Speilberg going back to his roots; pure entertainment and popcorn.

I'm tired of these disaster type movies. Granted, this is a classic story. With all the real-life grief (tsunami for one), I'm not going to go out and rush to see this one. Looks like another Day After Tomorrow, or Independents Day. I hope I'm wrong though because the original was great.

Can you really mention 'Day After Tomorrow, or Independents Day' (Emmerich/Devlin/Will Smith/Dennis Quaid) in the same breadth as War of the Worlds/Spielberg and Cruise?

Can you reallly?

Ok John... you're right. I was being harsh. I guess I was hoping for something more original from Speilberg instead of a remake. It still seems like a cash-cow movie for the summer. Besides trailers are carefully constructed and follow a certain formula. Here's one I just edited:

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and it's a good movie. Speilberg and Cruise does not always mean it's a guaranteed success.

eh...we shall see...i still think they are rushing it...what ever happened to taking your time to do something right?

anyway, i hope is good...this is the sort of thing stevo should knock out of the park.

It's definately a cash cow and a popcorny summer relase. I also agree that it has been
rushed; still; it's Stevo rushing it; the grand masta of disasta. If there is an efficient filmmaking machine it must be Spielberg. He knows how to make a movie.

As always; I say "Make every movie a candidate for picture of the year" no matter the genre. (Remember RADIERS was up for Best Picture? And JAWS? and ET?) The original STAR WARS; I could care of its about space rabitts; treat it like its your last film.

That trailer is great Bob! Very pro (and formulaic; which is the best kind in my opinion). Whats the project?
