Today Apple Computer announced the availability of 2000 music videos for $1.99 each in the iTunes Music Store.

Are you prepared to pay for something that was free from the artists' website a day ago?

Please cast your vote before discussion, won't you?

No way in hell. I can't stand watching free music videos, for the most part (I've seen a few good ones). I'd never pay for the experience.

Only from bands that I'm an "own every album" fan (which is two, by the way so the chances are not too great).

Not worth the money. That would be like flushing money down the toilet. Can't picture myself watching music videos on an ipod.

What I'd like to see is a service where you can get specific music videos all burned on a DVD somehow, full resolution, with extras. But that would be too "difficult" now wouldn't it? I guess I'm stuck watching highly compressed on yahoo music... sigh

I mean, anymore, I'm in the habit of buying the 128Kbps version on iTMS, then heading over to Limewire and downloading the 384Kbps version from another user. It's just silly! I want to stay legal with music downloads, but it's hard with the way they do things over at Apple.

I just can't enjoy a 128kbps iTune with my (endorsed by Apple) Bose headphones!

I dont watch music videos period. I dont have MTV, and I dont have an iPod and intend to keep it that way for at least quite some time, if not forever (I'm always hesitant to make too bold of a statement, lest I need to eat some crow). I also wont pay jack **** for music downloads. I own enough music to get me through my next two lifetimes already, and most of it is bullshit still. Very few people even touch on the kind of music that stimulates me, and I don't want to in any way perpetuate the turd factories. If they gave me 50 cents per download, I'd get broadband, get up a nice fat cue, let it pour in, cash my check, wake up, delete it all and start over.

Music videos suck. They didnt useta, but they do now. Two reasons...the music itself sucks...and they just do. And **** all that oft referenced "MTV style cutting" **** too. It raises bile into my throat...this whole thing. :)

And while I'm here, Steve Jobs gives Buddhism a bad rep.

for me, its a good way to study. it helps to see what works and what doesnt...

i love music videos...so yes, i would buy them. i have like 20+ gigs of music videos on my machine already, mostly work of directors/artists that i like...same with commercials...i love interesting commercials as well...i have an adcritic acount just so that i can log in every so often and check out whats goin on.

also, a few of the directers i work with have come from the music video/commercial world...so i download and keep archives of their work...its interesting to see where they have come from and how they got where they are. so i will use itunes now to find videos as well.

i bought the kanye west "gold digger" video today.

Well, some music videos are really cool. Take the videos from Michael Gondry and Spike Jonze, for instance.

Good music videos are cool, and are actually a nice format of videos to watch on the go. You don't have to commit a whole lot of your time to them, so you could watch them in the bus, waiting for your dentist appointment, or whatever.

REM videos are really cool too, I like them better than I like the songs.

Honestly, I want to know about podcasting. I'm thinking short films have a big place in the hearts of the future mobile video fan. And I'm thinking someone could actually make a lot of noise with his/her own TV show.

Again, there will be crap, a lot of H264 320x240 garbage, but I take it as the price to pay. They just want to get the video iPods out, and they know there is not enough content for them in the store. That won't drive iPod sales, but they have to start somewhere. I, for one think the price is actually fair. Music for 1 dollar, music+video for 2. Maybe a free music video with an album would be great, and I bet they will keep this formula. At this point, of shortage of content, it would be wiser to giveaway the videos, but if they did that, they would never be able to go back, and the music companies would not be really happy, nor the other content creators they have to convince giving stuff to itunes.

As for homemade content, that could work better, only that I exported my zombiefest entry to ipod format and it is taking really long to complete! Probably as long as if I had to download it! Pretty lame. Let's see the quality...

Ok...I confess, I have one music video on my harddrive....Sister Christian....because I get the biggest kick out of the singers "power beg" as he sings the big "your moooooooooootooooooorrrrraaaaaaaaaaAaaaAaaaAaaaaaaaan".

Wait wait wait.....that Happy Days Weezer one was awesome. Course, that still falls under "useta not suck". I'm sure there are some winners out there, but you'd have to wade through tons of BS to catch em on MTV or whatever....just not worth it.
