Would you pay 60 bucks to see this movie?

I think what makes this most absurd, is that there's nothing new here. Nothing new in the film, nothing new in the marketing, and not much new in the delivery actually. Murphy's schtick is so tired, and Rattner has directly so many stupid films at this point. Why would anyone pay? Even if this were a film starring Deana Durbin and Maureen O'Hara, was directed in the US by Roman Polanski, and contained the missing reel of the Magnificent Ambersons, it still wouldn't be worth that price.

Meanwhile, about two years ago I heard talk that there would be a BHC4, but it would be darker. Maybe not Training Day darker, but not the silly humor of the first three. I think if they had a good script, this could work. But the chances of that happening are...probably why it never happened.

What is really scary IMHO, is that this really shows that "Hollywood" does not have a clue what it is doing in the new digital age, and is willing to try outrageous marketing experiments to try and maintain its Wall Street expected levels of revenue. In the past, I would have prognosticated about this opening up opportunities for independent film, but I just don't think that is the case anymore. I think that this points to ominous things, where the large media conglomerates switch from innovation to entrenchment and consolidation to force the movie watching public to continue to pony up more and more of their hard earned cash for the dreck that the banker control movie studios are producing.

I wouldnt pay 60 dollars to watch it; but I think it is rad to see the old eddie. It reminds me of his earlier work.
