Would you bring your desktop to edit a job on site?

I had an unfortunate mishap with my laptop and have to do an event shoot that will require me to edit afterwards at my hotel and ftp files. I'm thinking of just bringing my desktop and LCD monitor which will be easier to work with, if nothing else. The hotel is decent and in a decent area. Would you bring your desktop to do the job? Would you trust the hotel staff? Obviously, getting a new laptop and loading everything would be optimal. But I'm a bit short this month and would rather not charge this. I'm thinking the desktop would allow me to do faster edits anyways. I'm driving to the event.

Your gear is insured? - or do you run a business model that undercuts those who pay for the little boring things like insurance

I cant see a problem

I bought an Imac not a tower because its (a little) more portable for this function exactly

An iMac sound perfect for this. Unfortunately, I'm working on a 6-core PC workstation, which has never moved from under my desk. But really, I guess it shouldn't be an issue. There used to be a class of computer called the lugable. It was a desktop that could be more easily moved when necessary. Maybe, there's a new emerging market!

Yep my 27 imac is a bit heavy (cased up) but its neat

Of course you should be properly backed up

Not just the data but sofware, licences and all..
