Would a kit lens work for video?

I'm looking at the Canon 5d Mark ii kit that includes the 24-105mm f/4L IS USM AF Lens and I'm wondering if that would work for video, and if not what would be a recommended lens.

Well the 24-105mm is definitely alright!

I would go with prime lenses though!

I would go for something like a 50mm F1.4 or maybe a 35mm F1.4.

Canon 50mm F1.4 or Samyang 35mm F1.4

Any lens that fits onto the camera will, "Work" for video. It is just that some lenses may be more appropriate for what you want the look to be and how you want to shoot it. Some lenses are faster, some lenses are sharper, some lenses have a wider angle, some lenses have a longer field of view, and on and on. There are also lot of thread here with lens recommendations.
