Is it a good tool or not in relation to using it with the dvx100a?

I recently picked up a nice Bogen/Manfrotto tripod but I'm considering a glidecam.

I can do handheld fairly well but I dn't want to overdo it.

Glidecam 2000

Works exactly like it says it does. Fluid as ice. Murder on the forearm. If you are going to be using extensively I'd consider one that offers the vest. IF you are going to pick and choose your shots within the GC2000 then it is worth it and looks great. You might want to consider moving up to the 4000 if you have any addtional accessories (Mattebox or....).

Read the other thread for more indepth discussion!

ice ice baby ;D

hey, thanks, guys. I will be in NYC this week so I might take a swing by B&H to price one. I love any excuse to hang out at that store.

Re: worth getting glidecam2000 for first feature?

word of advice - just get 4000 & forget about the 2000 - I recently brought the 2000 & had to exchange - as soon as you add the long life battery & any kind of adapter the 2000 is completely useless .
The 4000 is the one but boy - it hurts! my arm is aching like hell after not even 10mins - but im a weak bastard so each to thier own ;)

Carrington, look at getting the forearm brace, it should help...

Re: worth getting glidecam2000 for first feature?

Wish I could afford one of those!! They look so high tech and spiffy

I use my $14 homemade steady cam... looks *almost* as nice as the professional ones with practice on balancing arm and leg movements to keep the hands level

if you look up "$14 steady cam" on google, there is a site where it shows you how to make one

Re: worth getting glidecam2000 for first feature?

I'd have to second this idea, try the 14 dollar one, if it turns out, then good if not GC4000.

I have the 2000...but just like most GC users...I rarely use it. I would rather have put the money into a track and dolly.
