World War Z

This was surprisingly very good. I saw it by accident and I'm glad I did because I would of missed out on a great suspensful movie. Some of the suspense kind of reminded me of the original Jurassic Park. But don't let the trailer deter you from seeing it, the fast moving zombies in the trailer doesn't do the movie justice. Really good film.

I was looking forward to this film and although I don't regret seeing it, I left disappointed.

***Minor spoilers ahead***

There are some spectacular moments but, like so many of these films, I found that the sloppy writing kept distracting me. Brad Pitt is suppose to be a top U.N. investigator but appears pretty witless throughout the film - he doesn't even put his satellite phone on silent whilst on a stealth mission for starters. Another example is stopping and having a beer whilst running for his and his family's lives!

Despite Brad's questionable competence, he is put in charge of the investigation into the zombie outbreak. And here things become even more unbelievable - the team fly straight into a known infected area with virtually zero preparation and very little protection for their top scientist. Guess what? It all goes tits up! In fact wherever Mr Pitt shows up, chaos instantly ensues... unsurprising when he goes around tossing hand grenades about on airplanes.

Later the action heads to Wales and it feels as though the budget has run out. The final showdown feels cheap and unspectacular meaning that the film deflates towards the end. The final act is totally predictable which hinders it further.

6/10
