has anyone ever heard of this the workshops at http://www.theworkshops.com/

if and if not, what is your take on such a workshop? at first look i am turned off by the 1 weeks crash course scenerio, but it does look quite informative especially for the newb in me.

thanks for any input.

Re: Workshops

They're an expansion of the Maine Photographic Workshops and they have an excellent reputation. Most classes are 1-week, but they're extremely intensive. The instructors are frequently well-known photographers. I see that one of the instructors for their DP Master Class is Michael Chapman, ASC. So imagine what you could learn in a week with the DP that shot Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and a ton of other films.

Re: Workshops

I have attended two of them back in 88 and 89. They were excellent. Good instructors! The one I attended was an advanced lighting class and the instructor was Vigmos Zigmound. We started classes around 830am and went til late night. I think you would enjoy it and rub shoulders with other Professionals. :)

Re: Workshops

And don't forget lobster Friday ;)

I have been twice and can't wait to go back again. The experience is beyond compare. Best money you will ever spend in filmmaking.

Re: Workshops

I've also been twice. First time was a lighting workshop and the second was the Steadicam workshop.

Expensive but educational and inspirational.
