working with 23.97 and 29.97

I know there have been alot of posts about working with 24p mode but I was unable to find anything about working with multiple frame rates in the same project.

Not sure if this is possible.

What I have done is shot footage in 24p mode brought it in to premiere using the default capture settings of 23.97.

I have some additional footage shot at 29.97 that i want to cut into the project but not sure how to go about it. If I work on a 24p timeline the 29.97 footage doesnt work. If I work on a 29.97 timeline the 24p footage flickers.

My ultimate format is for broadcast at 29.97. Any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I had this very same problem, and now I'm shooting 30p (because Premiere treats it as 60i). But since you already have 24p footage, here's a work-around that will get your through. It's based on the fact that PP1.5 only looks at the first frame of a clip to determine if it's 24p or 60i.

1. Edit everything in a 30fps timeline, but don't render your 24p footage.
2. Add 1 frame (or more) of 60i footage to the front of your program (if the first frame is not 60i).
3. Export the timeline as a movie.
4. Import it back in.
5. Edit out the extra footage that you added in the front of your program.

Good luck.

thanks alot, I will give that a shot. I actually took the footage I had captured in premiere and brought in to after effects and that seemed to work. So I might just use ae instead.
