working on several projects at the same time

Is there any problems with working on several projects during the same time period in FCP?

Nope just make sure they have their own capture scratch folders, etc so everything doesn't get mixed up.

Amen to that noah. Always save before capturing. Other wise you will have a bunch of "untitled project' folders to deal with.

Also, save as a new project everyday, and new iterations as new sequences. Gives you redundancy in case of corruption and you can go back when the producer says "remember that thing I told you to change...I want it back that way" and you can simply save the day (and your job) by saying "sure, that was on the 19th wasn't it? let me just open that file".

great advice....

I set my auto save to save every 5 or 10 minutes. On a 10-20mb file, this adds up very quickly to gigabytes...For that reason, I delete my Auto Save files on a regular basis. For me, auto save is great for a computer crash or power failure - I loose only what I have done in the last 5 - 10 minutes, but I do not want to rely on it for business.

Besides, have you actually looked through, opened and found anything useful though the auto save folder? After 10 hours of editing it could easily have nearly a hundred of files to sift through to find that needle in the hay stack. Command+I your auto save folder and see how many MBs or GBs you have accumulated so far...

Instead, I look through 4 files or however many days we edited.

Just my opinion - saving iterations and work days to separate sequences and/or files has actually helped me on more than one occasion. BTW - just the other day I had a producer say after, ordering changes and signing off on the final product, "remember the first cut before the changes we ordered for the DVD, we really like that one and want to use it for our web site".
