Workforce for video editing

Hi. I'm trying to find a good solution for using DaVinci Resolve 12 Studio, Fusion 8 Studio (once it comes), and Cinema4D R17 Studio. I got this offer for a customized Mac. Any ideas if this is good, or should I venture to the PC realm?

Kind of taking a few steps backwards with a mac that is so old.

You should get a custom PC with a new CPU, it will be much faster than any of those.

not to mention you can get a ~2010 PC from HP or Dell with the same specs for probably less than half that cost.

Macs are much more expensive in Europe for some reason, no? The same setup used in the US on Craigslist would be roughly half of your quotes... I would look into a PC...

That might be a three generation old processors, like everyone else already mentioned, you can probably get a far better spec'd PC either the same or cheaper price. I would rather prefer to spend a little more for an updated Mac or "best bang for buck" on a custom PC that could be far more beneficial if you work on After Effects and etc.

I thought so :) Thank you. I have been thinking of HP z840 with some customizations. I'd love to get a Mac Pro late 2013, but its AMD D700 gfx is not powerful enough, I've been told.

Nope you are right, you'll need several powerful Nvidia cards to do what you want to do effectively.

The HP workstations are excellent and I have several friends who are full time colorists who use them.

I have one additional question. Do they use Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8.1 Pro? I just found out that Windows 10 does not support Thunderbolt 2, and I have a TB2 external mass storage. Both Win 7 and 8 will soon have their support cut ... this complicates matters.
