I'm shooting a web based show with my DVX100. The show will also include captured flash video from YouTube and other web video services (Video quality will suck, I know) I've decided to up convert the entire thing to 720p - seems like everything is headed in that direction and am mapping out my workflow. Here is my workflow so far:
Shoot the show in 24p then add this SD video and the flash clips to my 720p Apple Intermidiate Sequence @ 1280 x 720. Here are my settings in the sequence window:
Under the General Tab of the Sequence setting window:
I selected Frame size 1280 x 720 - HD 720p aspect ratio
Pixel aspect ratio - square.
Field dominance - None.
Editing timebase 23.98 fps. Audio - (standard 48khz 16 bit)
Quicktime video settings:
Compressor Apple Intermidiate Codec. Quality 100%. - Under advanced setting I set Compressor preset to "other". I will have to then resize and crop the SD to HD and flash files too on my old G4 1.67 powerbook
I've seen posts that suggest working with the an SD sequence first and then dragging it on a 720 timeline when all the editing has been done. I may do some of the credits and text in HD with Motion so I think I'll just go with the HD from the get go. I plan to upgrade my 1.8 G5 iMac soon as well as FCP so will then probably switch from Apple Intermidiate to ProRes422 codec. So, comments and suggestions please, at least to let me know I'm on the right track.
