Workflow Questions

I just wanted to throw this out there to get an idea of what everyone thought. I'm about to start a shoot on a music video, and I'm thinking I want to optimize my workflow before I get to post. I'm planning on renting a DVX and shooting probably about 2-4 hours of footage. I want to design the most lossless workflow possible. So, here is the some of the things I will have to do, and you guys suggest what you think is the best way to handle it:

1. After capture I will build a basic edit of the video. Once I have the edit, everything will go into After Effects from FCP. I want to be able to export my clips on my timeline, and then import them into AE, do some levels work along with other stuff, then reimport those clips into FCP. My concern is all the rendering that takes place in between. Since it's DV, I don't want to keep re-rendering the footage. Does anyone know of a better workflow than this?

2. The video needs to be broadcast spec, so I'm assuming this can be done in FCP. I'm used to using the Magic Bullet AE plug in for this. What can be used in FCP to achieve this?

Basically my goal is to avoid all the rendering involved going between the two programs, so any suggestions would be good. I primarily use AE for comps and color, mostly because I know it better, but I'm assuming it would better to use MB editors and color correction in FCP than exporting everything to AE. Sorry for the long post, I'm just trying to refine my pipeline to make it as lean as possible. I'm using FCP 4.5 and AE 6.5 on a dual Mac G5. Thanks!
