Workflow Help

I'm in need of figuring out my workflow.

I'm shooting with a Sony CX550V (AVCHD) in 60i.

I'm looking at using the Panasonic AVCHD to DVCPro HD convertor (is it worth it?).

From there using Magic Bullet Frames to get to 24p.

As I'm posting this in the Premiere sub-forum, I will be using Premiere as my main editor.

Would that be proper way to do things, or should I flip the conversion to DVCPro HD and do Magic Bullet Frames before?

I will also be using Instant HD Advanced to convert from 1080p to 2k; where should that fit in? Can I just use it after everything is cut, or should I do it to the source material?

It only works with Panasonic Cameras

If you wanted 24p, then it would have made sense to shoot in 24p. It'll never properly look like 24 by using Magic Bullet Frames.

Convert the video to Avid DnxHD to 2k (2024x1152 - 16:9), run that through magic bullets to get your "24p" file, encode that to DNxHD too and then edit that in premier.

The point of the 2k is for a Digital Cinema release, so it needs to be 2048 x 1080.

I thought the panasonic convertor can take material from any camera in the 1080/60i format.

2048 x 1080 would result in a non standard aspect ratio.

2048 x 1152 is the res for 2k.

The actual difference between 1080 and 2k is minimal.
2k has 2359296 pixels (2048x1152)
vs
HD has 2073600 pixel (1920 x 1080)

therefore 2k is 1.1378 (2359296/2073600) times bigger than fullHD. You will see very little benefit.
