Workflow for keying on slow computer

The studio I'm working at has me working on a slow computer. I was thrown into the middle of a project and now the computer is creating all kinds of problems with our exports.

The next project i will actually be covering from the beginning. It is similar to the previous disaster in that the former editor cut the green screen footage in a sequence to be keyed at a later time. The key is horrible, so keying in Premiere is out. I will need to use Dynamic Link to key the project in After Effects and then bring it back in to Premiere.

Editing totally in After Effects is out as well because the video will be about 1 hour long, and I will not be able to see if what clips I may need to extend/reduce match the audio from the import.

The video is shot on Panasonic P2, frame size is 960x720, DVCHD 720p. The computer will play the green screen files in premiere for a little bit and that's it.

The rough system specs are: Dual core processor, about 3G of RAM, Windows 7, Adobe CS4

So what is a good workflow for this project? Is there any codec that I can use to make a proxy file to get a good key in After Effects and then apply the effects to higher res footage that will play real-time in premiere?

Oh, and I don't think I can get them to spend any money on any additional programs/plugins/codecs. But free is good!
