Work with p2 and mxf natively in premiere

I'm not a Premiere user, but this looked pretty interesting if I am reading it properly. Has this been talked about already? It looks like this little plugin will allow you to edit actual mxf files without having to convert and even be able to write back to p2 cards as well.

There looks to be a demo version available. Maybe some of you Premiere folks could try it out and let us know how it works.

I just pulled in the demo program and will give it a try.

Thanks for providing the link!

No problem. I'm interested to know about the realtime capabilities with it, if you can provide some info regarding that. Nonetheless, not having to convert, and being able to write back to p2 (if that is accurate) would be a nice addition for Premiere users. I won't be changing NLE's anytime soon though :) Just got the one I'm working with now

I fully understand the desire not to change NLEs. There is just too much investment in getting to a point where you have mastered one. For me, I like the integration with other Adobe products so despite being tempted, I really don't want to change at this point.

Thanks again, I will report back when I have done enough testing to have a solid opinion.

How's the testing going Kevin? I'm surprised more people have not expressed interest in this program. It looks like it could be a nice solution for Premiere users. I'm interested to here your impressions.

Any news?

I second that. This seemed, on paper to be something that might be what a lot of people are looking for with Premiere. I would test it myself, but I'm not a Premiere user :)

Kevin has been busy, and under the weather lately, though. I'm sure he will report back soon. And his opinion on the software would be worth taking note of. He's one smart dude.

If someone really loves Premiere, enough to justify the boarset cost, the Matrox Axio provides superior integration over anything else (yes, even over EDIUS). But Axio's only useful on a desktop; if you want portable editing it wouldn't do. I told 'em a great little product would be a software plug-in that would give the same integration but be usable on laptops, but I don't think they've announced any such product yet.

Also, don't forget that Serious Magic provides DVCPRO-HD MXF file conversion for Premiere, and Serious Magic just got bought by Adobe so there's maybe a chance that the Serious Magic technology would be incorporated in a future version of Premiere?

Damn it's expensive. You have to buy the HD MPEG program for $400 then buy the DVC-PRO HD plug in for another $430. I'm using Ciniform and I thought that was expensive compared to Rayliight!
