"Within a Minute"

Is a featurette on the Episode III DVD, showing everything and everyone going into a single minute of the movie, from script to score.

A mini-film school right there. Check it out.

I think I would be more interested in seeing that featurette then I would the actual movie. :)

Seriously, that does sound like a great bonus feature. I love the one's Rodriguez puts on his discs.

I wouldn't call it a film school, but it definitely does give you a real sense of scope on that kind of massive project and a sort of crew glossary.

I wasn't able to relate to it as a "film school" because I don't (and will not be anytime soon) work on that level, but it is fascinating to see things getting put together with that depth of behind the scenes insight. The Episode I DVD has an awesome doc showing how they created the deleted Naboo waterfall scene, it's like a condensed version of Within A Minute.

There's a pretty cool easter egg on the Episode III DVD showing Yoda rapping to The Roots. Goto the audio setup screen (Options, from the disc one main menu) and highlight the THX logo. Press the 10+ button on your remote and input 11, wait till it "finishes" (about 3 seconds) then press the 10+ and input 03...wait....press 10+ and input 08 (completing an 1138) and it will come up. You can do this on the Episode I and II DVD's for blooper reels, and on the OT bonus disc (do the same thing anywhere within the Games menu).

I watched that featurette last night -- the title is ironic because the segment is like an hour long ;)

Anyways, when they went throught the work flow from the production shooting to digitizing the footage, are those HD tapes they used? WTF are they using tape for at all? I could understand if they output tapes for dailies or something, but they output the footage as masters and then digitized those tapes??? I'm sure there was a reason, but it seems like a strange workflow.

As much as I hated it; I bought this today at TARGET completing the cirlce of Star Wars ownership; my son will love it. I am interested in the 60 second doc though!

I watched this and they have all this amazing technology and all these tools like pre-viz that can be done in half a day and dailies that can be watched with sound that day and all i kept thinking was... but this isn't really even good. I mean the lava looks fake. I still don't understand, with hundreds of millions of dollars, how filmmakers haven't figured out how to change lighting on a person's face when they're floating trhough a constantly changing digital enivornment (unless there are a lot of key-lighting bots on Mustafar that I don't know about). I mean this is the best you can do with all this money?

meh.

The only thing that intrigues me is that we can do this in our garage.

That is one thing I am interested in.

Funny you say the lava looks fake -- it's pretty real. They shot a week's worth of references from an actual erruption at Mt. St. Helen.

I completely disagree, the lava looks great. I didn't know they used real sources when they did it but I remember thinking in the theater that it looked cool.

Poor George. I know he reads and sometimes even posts here on this forum. He must feel bad about how his films are taken here.

You know, Beethoven learned to compose by listening to Haydn symphonies. I wouldn't be caught dead listening to Haydn but Beethoven is a master!

Long live the wisdom of Jar-Jar!
