With the m2 and without

I'm shooting a film with redrock m2 and hvx200. I also own a Glidecam 4000 system and need to use it for some of the shots. It's obviously not possible to mount the entire kit on that, so if I take off the m2 for some of the walking shots (which need a steadicam), would it look funny? Am I right in guessing that the light will be very different so I must not attempt this? Any way out?

Thanks

It will look different but this is all part of the process and has been done many time before with success. In fact, its not just the DoF that will be different, but color, softness and 'bokeh' of each image will be different. If you take the adaptor off for a scene, leave it off for the whole scene. It will intercut better in the edit suite if the images are similar.

why cant' you use the 4000 with an m2?
do you not have a smooth shooter? if you do, keep it on there. plenty of people use glidecams with adapters.

Oh right, I was under the impression that it would be too heavy, as I was told by somebody. Good to know it can be used. I'll do some research into what a smooth shooter is, never heard of it.

Thanks

i have my canon XH A1, with a letus extreme, a set of rails, a follow focus and a mattebox on my glidecam 4000 pro with smoother shooter. flies nicely!

So it turns out that I was ignorant enough to not know that the 'jacket', as I called it, is in fact called smooth shooter. I have access to the same, Glidecam 4000 with smooth shooter. PaPa, thanks for letting me know yours works out well!

The website, though, says it's for up to 10 lbs; wouldn't hvx200 redrock m2 be heavier? How much does your setup weigh PaPa? I'm asking because I'm renting for a tight schedule and can't depend on trial and error.

Thanks
