Wireless Wearable Viewfinder?

Hello,

Just wondering if anybody has come across a wireless wearable viewfinder? I think it would be great to have a pro level viewfinder you could wear over one eye and be able to shoot. Sort of like a Zacuto Gratical but wireless and small enough to wear.

Is it possible in terms of transfer speed and latency?

I posed this question at a Steadicam workshop after archive video showed Garrett Brown using a Steadicam prototype with small monitor over one eye similar to a Google Glass. The speaker said they abandoned the wearable concept due to it being too disorienting to the operator.

Thanks for your reply. Interesting. I guess one would not know this until actually using the setup.

I'd say that's much more of an issue for a steadicam operator. For an operator working off a dolly or tripod, I can't see disorientation being too much of an issue.

As someone with chronic neck issues, I've been looking for something like this too for a long while. Zeiss have an HDMI-based set of HD viewing glasses (which I'd love to try), but a unit dedicated to the task would certainly be nice.

The money I'd save on chiropractors would pay for it in just a month or two!

Would be cool when running around handheld or w tripod getting quick b-roll where having a cam-mounted monitor would be too heavy or a hassle.

I've thought about it before too.

If the total parts of a camera system could be broken up and distributed around the body, the camera itself could be a lot smaller. Viewfinder strapped to your head a la Garrett Brown, camera controls in your hand where you can change any settings, including focus, then a small camera bolted to your shoulder or chest.

It really does not need to be "future tech" from my point of view. Just run a signal out of the HDMI port wirelessly to a Gratical type viewfinder that is strapped to your head like a cyborg. Would not look cool but it would make it easier to operate DSLR/Mirrorless type cameras imho. But is it possible without lag?

Haha nice!

Replace "not look cool" with "look extremely cool".

Except, why use an EVF? What about just a high bright monitor/control unit? I think once the DJI x7 gimbal comes, people will start operating this way and things will really change.

What is a high bright monitor/control unit? Is it wireless? My whole point is to free up preview through the camera to be give you mobility and hands free operation. Monitors are great for tripod use but needing to look at the camera LCD to frame while hand holding is limiting.

I mean something like this. It's for controlling DJI's cameras only though.
