Looking for a $150-$300 range wireless lav system that mounts well on the DVX.

Anyone have any recommendations?

there really isn't much out there in that price range that I would suggest. For $499 you can get a good Sony or Sennheiser system.

My favorite little wireless right now is the Sennheiser G2. I tried one out and it was really trick. (Boy that's an old term isn't it?... but try one and you'll see the adjective fits.)

The other thing to consider, depending on where you live of course, is a used Lectro...

My computer's been on the fritz lately... I'm waiting for a new processor to arrive right now... but I can't wait to post some audio I got by cramming a Lectro VHF under my nephew's football pads (high-school football)... There were a few pops and fizzes... but it was pretty effective. You'll be surprised how well it worked. That system was $500 used. I've seen cr185 sets go for as low as $350.

Sorry, I had a flash back to my early motocross days in the 70's on that one ! ;D

Hey SafetyO... my brothers raced supercross with Bob (Hurricane) Hanna, Marty Smith, and David Bailey. They weren't good enough, but they did have national numbers of 150 and 151... so not bad. We had boxes of Yamaha bikes in our garage when I was a kid. The crates would just show up and my brothers would put 'em together and race 'em. I went straight from the baby-walker to a mini-trail 50. :D

Hey back to the wireless... here's a little junk I shot of my nephew when I shoved my Lectro into his pads. I put the Tram in a half a cat "ball-cage" toy with some fur stuck around it... then I duck-taped that contraption at the "v" of his pads... under the jersey. There were some pops and sizzles at these ranges (full zoom)... but all in all I thought it worked pretty good... even in the rain!

Check these out. My dad (79 years young) restores "vintage" bikes and still races them in the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association sponsored races. He mostly rides the Maico. The Ossa is a Mic Andrews replica. Neat Malcolm! He jokes that at his age, he just has to push it to the line, kick it over, and he wins a trophey in his age class! ;D

Back OT, I'm about to purchase the Sennheiser G2 system for my DVX.

Wow...just watched the movie with the Lectro on your nephew. Great sound considering the circumstances. Very useful with the labeling of distance, etc.

Re: Wireless System for DVX

I've got two of the Sennheiser G2 combo kits and they are nice.

A word of caution: For some reason, the G2 systems come from the factory with the receiver set to +12dB. You will need to crank it down into the negative numbers before you get rid of the distortion.

Also, it is suggested by Sennheiser to set the 'Sensitivity' to -20 or -30 on the transmitter.

Re: Wireless System for DVX

I use the audio technica pro 88w in most of my wedding shoots and have no problems.

Re: Wireless System for DVX

FWIW... The Sennheisers are great and have 'no problems' once they are set correctly.
