Hey. Since I installed my wireless router so I could have internet on my new laptop as well, I am unable to view my remote site or upload anything to in via dreamweaver.

I bypassed the router on my desktop, but still the same problem. I had to install some software for the router on the desktop. The laptop would be the next test. Bypass the router and go straight to the laptop, since there is no router associated software installed.

The issue is whenever I try to view my site or upload to it, the program just stops responding.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Any ideas on what the router, probably more specifically the router software is doing to prevent me from uploading to or viewing my site in dreamweaver mx?

I can still upload via ftp tools in the cpanel of my website, etc. Just not dreamweaver

It sounds like a port 21 (ftp) issue -- can you configure the router to forward port 21 to the IP address of your laptop? Since cpanel is a web interface I'd guess that it works through port 80 which is probably wide open on your network, but 21 is likely not getting through.
 
That sounds like it may be it. I was reading something about making a router work with a server which was talking about port 20 21. It gives instructions on how to configure it, but I avoided that since it didn't seem quite appropriate.

Am I going to end up getting one or the other with that though? Either desktop or laptop, not both? Or am I configuring the port to the ip of the router as opposed to the desktop or laptop ip? Does that make sense?
