Wireless receiver position

I know this has been discussed sometime back, but couldn't find the thread in search. I have usually tried to mount my G2 sets with the unit and thus antenna in a vertical orientation, mostly so I could see the display more easily. Question, does it degrade the signal if the receiver is mounted horizontal, on a shoe mount for example? What if there are two units, is there any proximity effect?

thanks in advance,
Grant

The angle of the radio waves changes constantly as the transmitters (and their wearers) move around. If you have a diversity receiver with two different antennas, placing them at "opposite" angles would achieve the best results. For example in a "V" shape (like old-time rabbit ear TV antenna wands).

If you have only one antenna, then simply position it for least drop-out performance around the expected operating area. Remember that placing the antenna wand close to (or especially touching) nearby metal objects (even the receiver enclosure or other antennas) reduces the signal that the antenna can pick up. The orientation of the receiver body itself typically makes no difference. (Unless it somehow forms the antipode of the antenna.)

The "V" is like "you search left" and "you search right" for signal.

Sometimes they do it one horizontal and 1 vertical...and if the antenna can "see" the transmitter it's better also. But that's not always practical or
possible.
