Can anyone offer help on a good wireless Mic set for the DVX that is not to price high?
and where to buy

skrott,

At the risk of sounding annoyed, please give the search option a try. You will find lots and lots of opinions about wireless here in the forum.

But, to give you a quick answer - you will not find any usable wireless that meets your criteria, given that price point.

the minimum acceptable wrielss system for professional production work is the sennheiser evoloution wireless g2 (about 500 each). THe mic that comes with the system, the me2, is not a good mic. You should try to buy the system w/o that mic and replace it with an audio technica 899 (minimum) or an MKE2 or a Countryman B6 (or b3 or emw). Make sure you get the right mics that screw into this system. Call trewaudio.com and get a sales person for help.

In the interest of people complaining that the only options offered up are "expensive" professional solutions; the hobbiest shooter could look at the AT PRO88W-R35 (something like $150 a set). It is a cheap radio shack solution that won't sound very good, will have very little range, and mostly likely will have a ton of interference problems but if you are shooting home movies type stuff it would probably be better then the on camera mic (assuming you can find a clear VHF channel).

If you need a reliable professional solution, as Sane said, the G2 is the minimum standard. Two G2 with decent mics will cost you $1100 to $1200.

Please don't complain about the AT wireless, I do not recommend them but they are cheap.

Cheers

I am sure someone will post

"but wabbit uses the at pro88w-35 all the time and he says it is great"

soon.

lol

sorry, I couldn't resist. How much were you lectrosonics mics (just for perspective)?

Don't dismiss used gear either.
Some Lectrosonics 175 series (preferably DC or DR) VHF systems can be had for $150/system on eBay occasionally. They are pretty decent units.

My most recent Lectro 401/MM system was around $2200, but you can get the 401/LM for around $1700 I think. You can also find used 211 in that $1700 range. Used VHF Lectros can often go for under $500. The 190's can be had for around $600 and are still pretty good but not freq agile.

At the really high end you can get a Zaxcom unit for around $4000 (as Oleg said, add another zero and your there).

Really there is something to fit every budget, YMMV.

there are planty of used lectrosonics 200 recievers whic are the best i ever found for reception . so if you can suply then external power ( they ar extermal only)and add 2 lm transmiters , you may find exellent solution for about 2000 for 2 pars .
also check audio ltd 2000 divercity , they also need ext power as the their internal batteries will clean you bank acount
the same audio ltd non divercity do work with 9v batteries and sounds exellent , the minus you have 2 fq only for each system .could be found for 700us per unit ,used .
also dont know how good the new AT double reciever , may be good as well .
Mipro ( or ander bayer name) also making not bad sytems in low pricing range
new sytem at least here with dyvercity reiever cost about 800us , probably les s in the states
