Wireless Lav HELP

Ok so I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about audio, and before I buy a new wireless lav set I would like some advice. I shoot a lot of interviews on location and the Lavs I have are just giving such a terrible result.

I have tried to change frequencies to find a good match but I must also admit that I don't have the best understanding of frequencies and maybe I'm just picking the worst one.

I've heard that the Sennheiser G3 wireless system is a pretty good setup. At around 600 it's only a little more expensive than that Audio-Technica one you're looking at.
 
But remember, that's just the wireless transmitter receiver combination that usually comes with a pretty crappy stock wireless lav that you're looking at. If you are looking for a good lav, look around at the TR250 and the Countryman EMW and B6 for some pretty cost efficient mics and then pair that with a good wireless receiver/transmitter combo.
 
Can you describe the result you're getting, and how you'd want it to be different?

The hiss could be an indication of improper gain staging but given your other problems I'd say you'll realize far better results by upgrading your wireless rig and lav mic.

I have been getting good results with the sennheiser line and am currently building a 4 channel rig based on the G3 line.
 
I also recommend the G3 line from Sennheiser for starters. Its the minimum and if you like them you can later go with some better capsules like mentioned above but if placed correctly even the cheapo capsules from Sennheiser do a good job. you should be able to get them for around 600$ since they are made in USA as well.
AT makes an interesting stereo receiver which is the only one in that price range if you need 2 wireless channels and want them both to arrive at 1 camera without some tangled setup.

True diversity systems start @ 1k$ and are a lot more safe on the transmission side.
Thats what is used when there is no other take possible :-)
