Wireless Headphones

Is anyone using wireless headphones? Seems like an ideal way to let the sound guy / boom pole guy & director hear the sound at the same time.
Any recommendations? 8)

Re: Wireless Headphones

Depends. A friend of mine just got some for around $60 per set and the sound quality isn't a tenth of the 7506s at $95.

Basically they establish the fact that you HAVE a signal, but they don't really tell you anything about the sound.

Maybe there are models way above that for a lot more cash?

I'd love it if you could have a solution like that... It would eliminate a lot of problems if it worked.

Re: Wireless Headphones

Comtek 216 and a lectrosonics t-1 r-1 IFB system is what I use and it works great.

if you want your pole/boom guy to have cans on him, get a duplex cable, you can even talkback..

Re: Wireless Headphones

Yeah, you need to get an IFB system for this. Most wireless headphones don't sound all that great. See if you can get your hands on some used Comteks. The M72's sell for $200 used and the PR72B's go for around $100 used.

Re: Wireless Headphones

thats mono -not good at all , mostly cut everything under 100 and over 10000
, there is small fm tx with varible 88-107 mhz  about 10m operation range (i would try to find the link) which can be hooked to the camera outs , the recieving could be made by symple fm whalkman or a few of them if you wanna suply feed to director and other people of the crew

Re: Wireless Headphones

Oleg, I am too trying to find that link. I worked at a theater in California and they had that as IFB and Hearing impaired system, it sounded great. I even listened to the program in my car..

Re: Wireless Headphones

Dave, any ideas where I can get used comtecks for that price? all I have found, a 216 used system 1tx 4rx for 1500 and the 72, 1tx and 4 rx for 750..

few years ago i transmited the whal scen which was recorded in one car to another in stereo , so the director just whatch the camera ifb and lissen them on the radio ,
worked well , until another pirat station came around :-)

Re: Wireless Headphones

Hey
Just another idea that I have ued a few times for a director.  I have a Fm transmiter for my Ipod.  I split at the camera, one for my headphones, and the other to anyone who can aford a Fm radio.  I think the transmitter was 30 bucks. Oh, and it is a stero signal.
