Wireless and Shotgun...

I'm about to shoot some interviews and teacher student interactions in a classroom environment. I was planning on using a mic on a boom AND the camera mic...one in each channel. Should I consider buying a wireless omni lavalier in place of the camera mic?...

If so I see there are UHF and VHF.. which one, which brand (I can't spend more than $400)

Re: Wireless and Shotgun...

VHF stands for Very High Frequencies, and UHF stands for Ultra High Frequencies. UHF is higher than VHF. If you are planning on only being line of sight, VHF will work fine. UHF works a little better when you need to go through walls and stuff. You won't find much worth using for under $400. I know Azden makes a system or two in that price range, but it's performance is so-so.

Re: Wireless and Shotgun...

A Range 518-554 MHz
B Range 626-662 MHz
C Range 740-776 MHz

Is any one range better than another?

Re: Wireless and Shotgun...

Ok I received my delivery now I have more questions.
I own this which has a lav only:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=324245&is=REG

I bought it from buy.com for $433 delivered.

But then I notice that this can use dynamic mics..
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=324229&is=REG

and this can use condenser mics:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=349266&is=REG

In retrospect I may have went for the microphone plug in adaptor but I guess I can always add on later??
