Has anyone ever worked with this? If you have, do you know where to rent the equipment or hire people to help set up and do the stunts? Looking for this in the New York City Area. Thanks.
I do a lot of wire work and wire fu. I'm in minnesota, but of course I can travel. If you're looking for local coordinators, your best bet is to check out the Stunt Players Directory at:
Anyone know of any dirt cheap methods? A guerilla filmmaking technique at all? I have very simple shots nothing to fancy just leeps and a rig to suspend in front of a greenscreen.
You need to know how to properly do the butterfly wrap and other ties such as the ten-wrap fisherman's tie, otherwise the wire will break right away when you try to lift the actor. Plus, you'd need some pretty heavy duty equipment like a crane, unless you are planning on mounting the hardware to the ceiling. And the type of wire used is also very important as there are an endless selection of sizes and strengths to choose from. I guess the bottom line is you should probably get a professional to work with you. There are a lot of safety concerns. Sorry to be such a party pooper on this one, I'm all about experimenting and doing stuff myself, but this can be pretty complicated and dangerous if not done properly.
