Has anyone else noticed that the stick mics NBC is using are all wired? I wonder if they were concerned about frequency issues or if Italy has some different regulations regarding wireless frequencies.
I also noticed that they are using a mix of mics. On the Olympic Ice show, they were using both Sennheiser and Shure mics (and some others I couldn't make out the brand on).
I don't know about everyone else, but if I were responsible for planning the audio on such a huge event, I would want to standardize everything as best I can. And that would include only one brand/model of each mic type.
Also, does anyone know if they're using boundry mics on the courses (bob sled, downhill, etc.)? Or are they just using camera-mounted mics? I can't even begin to imagine the logistical nightmare of laying cable to a slew of boundry mics on a ski course.
