Winter Gloves for Operating

Does anybody know of a good brand of gloves for operating in the winter, it's not getting warmer where i live and i want to get out and do some shooting without freezing my hands off.
Little hard to get a smooth shot when your hands are trembling like a geriatric...(need more medication)

Something like golf gloves only with insulation.

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

Anyone tried any of those "mechanix" gloves they make for race crews, etc? Supposedly they let you keep finger feel & function... not sure how warm though.

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

yeah... not even just for winter.. you will appreciate having them after you burn your fingers a few times on barn doors.

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

Thanx Guys for all your help, I will also check out MEC when I am in Vancouver, also REI in Seattle.

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

I have seen gloves online that have little 9volt batteries attached to them that deliver a small amount of heat. I have not tried these but its freezing cold here in Philly and I might look into something like that when I am outside on shoots. The only other thing that I can think of is going to Walmart, or Hunting or Outdoor type store and look for something called HOT HANDS. Its these little packets in a orange and black package. You take the pouch out and shake it then you insert the pouch inside your gloves and within a few short minutes it warms your hands up! The pouch lasts for up to 8 hours then you have to throw it away because its only good for one use. You can get a whole pack at Walmart for 3 or 4 bucks. You might be able to find these at Ski Shops as well.

Hope this helps.

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

there are new gloves a friend told me about so I went and checked out at sportmart. they have a little valve that you blow into.. air chambers take your breath and hold it as heat. Sounds like a gimic but when I tried them they really worked.

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

Wow, wacky gloves Jarred. I'll check out sportmart tomorrow in Kelowna. Going to Big White to board, big dump. ;D

Re: Winter Gloves for Operating

I've always used the hunting mittens that fold away from the fingers. They are especially warm. I have learned to just poke my index finger out for power zoom. They are clumsy for manual zoom. Same thing goes for manual focus. .....but they are warm!

Whoa Taylor! Reminds me of home. But now I'm in Georgia and it's a 65 wonderful degrees with a nice spring like breeze. Simply amazing for this time of year.

My mother, in Ohio, cannot stay warm. Go figure.
