If you bought it today, yeah, it'd probably be around $50. I always buy wine and "lay it down" for a few years. I get the release price and just have to store it in the right conditions. When I bought this it was probably about $23. I have also purchased wine at auction, where I have gotten good deals. The important thing is to decide what you're willing to pay for it and if it goes over, let it go. When buying "fine" wine, it's important to keep an eye open for a good deal. I've been very fortunate in this area.

EDIT: You're about an hour and a half to two hours south of me. I live just a little north of where I-10 meets I-15.

how about a bottle of "Marilyn Merlot." Probably won't find it at Trader Joe's, but worth it for the bottle label alone.

I really don't like Merlot because it's a bit too soft and has no "guts." There are some French Bordeauxs that are merlot based but somehow have bight, but they tend to be out of my price range. I needed to make my feelings about merlot clear. Marilyn Merlot. Yeah, I'd buy it just for the label. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Marilyn Monroe has got to be the sexiest woman that ever graced the silver screen. :love4:

im hunkerin down with a couple bottles of Mad dog 20/20...
Hahaha. That takes me back to college. I remember the midnight picnics, a tub of KFC (when it was still Kentucky Fried Chicken (not Kitchen Fresh Chicken) and a bottle of Annie Green Springs or Boone's Farm on the Fifty Yard Line of the Sun Bowl. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Bought this last week (2 red and 2 white) at the supermarket (and took pictures with my phone !)
Because I liked what I was seeing !!

I like very much to see bottles with dust : it's like to discover a treasure.

Delicious. Un nectar.

:)

I love a good Sauternes. Obviously, your "supermarkets" in France have a different selection of wine, than ours here in California... or as Ahh-nold would say: CAH-lee-FORN-ya. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I don't know about California, but in every supermarket from the smallest to the biggest (to big, imo. Carrefour is 2nd largest worldwide retail distribution company just afterwall-mart and they tend to have the same behaviour...) you can be sure to find good wines for affordable price.
(About 16-20 euros)

My favorite French producer is Chateau Cos D'Estournel. It has gotten to the point where it is no longer viable...$60-75 in an average year. And now that the ownership has changed, I'm afraid the quality will suffer.
