Windscreens for Sennheiser ME66, Velour or foam?

I'm shopping this mic and noticed that the black velour windscreen cost about 25 bucks more than the gray foam version. I know the Rycote blimp system is the best, but in the meantime, is the velour windscreen better than the foam?

The velour covered windscreen by Sennheiser is much more effective than the plain foam windscreen. The protection against wind is less than a Rycote Softie screen, is often enough to be used outside. Also, the velour screen will last much longer that a plain foam windscreen, making it well worth the extra price in the long run. I wish Sennheiser made a velour covered foam screen for the MKH-8000 series.

Rycote will do one for you as they now do velour custom foam windshields.

If you want a quantity, talk to the USA Rycote distributor and/or send me a PM - I know the MD at Rycote quite well.
