Windows Zune Media Player

Except for the songs expiring after three plays. That just sucks but I understand it.

Indeed. It also adds play restrictions and DRM to content that you are actually allowed to re-distribute. For example, if I were to use a Zune to transfer the podcast This Week in Tech, the play restrictions would be added. This (adding of DRM) is actually in violation of the GPL the podcast is released under. Disappointing, to say the least.

i bought one. its a POS. i hate it with a passion. it always freezes when i try to add songs to the sync list, and i dont like the way you put music in the library.... i should have gotten the 30gig ipod.

oh man! that sucks! is there a patch you have to download or something i wonder?

i dont know... it seems to be the player itself thats screwing up the comp not the software... if i take the zune out of the comp it puts the songs on the sync list then i have to plug it in again to put the songs on the player... when i plug the player in all the songs and albums dont come up on my software... stupid crap

I just returned my iPod video 30 GB and got one of these: http://www.pocketdish.com/ I have the 4" AV500E version.

It beats the crap out of the iPod for screen quality, size (it's actually 16x9) and general video quality.
It also will record /encode anything via SVideo/RCA audio in, play SVideo/RCA audio out to any TV and mp3 quality is first rate.

I still like the iPod's interface but this thing beats the snot out of it when it comes to video. Oh, and I simply download my DVR recordings via USB 2.0 (1 hr show takes just 4 min. to transfer) onto the player with no added cost, instead of a per-episode fee for anything from the iTunes video store.

Granted, you need to be a Dish Network subscriber to really get the most out of the device, but it's well worth it if you pay for satellite/cable tv anyway.

The device is made by Archos which is a kick *** portable media device manufacturer.

btw, it's pretty easy to encode divx or mpeg4 files for the AV500E from HD/HDV sources. Looks amazing.

Looks a lot better than letterboxed lowres 4x3 on the iPod.
