Windows Vista RC2 available for download

For those DVXUsers who aren't Mac-based and like to play with the newest stuff, Microsoft has released Windows Vista RC2 for download - and it's available to anyone, not just Connect testers. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available. It should be noted that although it's a stable release candidate, it is not the final version and you install at your own choice. I'm just passing the info along. :) That being said, if you have a second computer or don't mind a format, you can check out the next generation of PC OS.

Download is a DVD ISO file (~2GB), so if you're a dialup user, you're just gonna have to wait until next time!

Enjoy.

Product Activation? Oh please... it takes like 15 seconds and you have to do it once. And DRM is becoming more and more important as things are distributed only in digital form. And anyways, for really inconvenient DRM'ed things, someone will break that protection within a week.

You can boycott Vista for other reasons, but I don't think those are that big of deal.

Thank god the Fischer price theme is gone.

I'd love to try it out but my computer is just how I like it and I don't have a second one.

And with school I'm way too busy to mess around with this stuff. When I get one of the new macs maybe I'll put that on it.

To me it is a big deal! If I'm paying $4 to 500.00 for an OS, I want to walk in to a store, buy it and go use it. I want nothing more to do with the makers of the software, I paid my due! I don't care about the 15 second bit, it is for me a matter of principal. I will stay with win 2000 to the bitter end as it is the last good OS Microsoft ever made IMHO. I am not activating my car, toaster, house, DVD's for anyone at anytime for any reason. My laptop came with XP but I never had to activate it. I consider the OS on my laptop as having been forced upon me and as soon as I can figure a way to get 2000 on it while still retaining its functionality, you can bet I will!

Good ol windows. The 64 bit functionality is certainly a step up, if you have the software to utilise it. Looks like apart from that they changed the pictures. Nice :S
