Did this last round of windows updates leave anybody else scratching their heads?

Desktop machine hung on one of the updates for quite a while and then failed...5 or 6 updates successful-2 failures. They usually just fly through without a hitch. Laptop failed a couple as well and on reboot the cmos setup had reset time and date to 1999. Seemed odd.
Just did them all this morning -- no hitches.
Of course, that's Win7 64 - is that what you're running?

Sigh...XP. I guess the writings on the wall.
After looking for others with the same issue, I find microsoft.net framework 4 is an update with a lot of fixes posted for it. Bad bad microsoft.
Still another edit! I had to remove all net. framework versions and rebuild from version 1, rebooting each time. The lesson appears to be go no farther than version 3.5 with XP. Microsoft may list higher as an update, but it will cause problems.
